Vladimir 518 (real name Vladimír Brož, born 1978) is a multimedia artist and musician who emerged as one of the most prominent figures of the Prague graffiti scene during the 1990s and 1990s. During his lifetime he has produced a large number of book illustrations, graphic design, comics, theatre set design and free art. His art projects have been printed in many prestigious foreign magazines, such as the German LoDown, Slovenian Stripburger, and English Dazed & Confused. Between 2004 and 2005 he worked and lived in the German city of Leipzig, where he connected with the progressive typographic group Black Red. As a scenographer, he collaborated with the experimental theatre group TOW, with whom he realized performances on many international theatre stages. He is a member of the audiovisual unit SPAM, which focuses on digital art and the synchronization of video, sound, laser and light. In 2005 he drew a series of visual stories about Czechoslovak pre-revolutionary architecture for the architectural magazine ERA 21, foreshadowing the great interest of the young generation in these specific buildings. Between 2011 and 2015, he drew and published the underground newspaper KIX together with other Czech artists. Between 2006 and 2021 he was the main representative of the large-scale organisation BiggBoss, which produced mainly book and music projects focused on contemporary urban culture and art. His best-known book publications include the trilogy Tribes (2006, 2011, 2013), the analysis of contemporary Czech art Obsession (2015), and the large-scale project Architecture 58-89 (2022). He has exhibited his artwork in the Czech Republic and abroad. He works mainly in the MeetFactory art factory in Prague, which he personally founded in 2008. In addition to his artistic work, his music production is also well known. To date, Vladimir 518 has released seven full-length albums and three mixtapes, filmed and directed a large number of music videos, and collaborated with many leading artists of different genres.
